Capturing a Reflection

When you are looking to portray a serene walk through nature made for reflecting on your life there is a balance to be made between depicting the environment and the people in it. Capturing the moments of genuine interaction between each other projects a feeling of togetherness and community. The environment that these are made in shows how nature helps build this interest between them. So how do I capture it all?
Pathways and Presence
Hiking is most often done along a path traveled by many. Following this path is what gives them the time to think and discuss the lives they live. They are important for the photos as well directing the viewer where to look. Leading Lines out to a point on the horizon and people walking with raised hands as if talking

The process of making these types of photos was directed to show a sense of progression. We were moving forward towards a beautiful forest filled with lights and sounds from nature. Looking to the future is the driving aspect of this event and capturing that through these pathway photos was something that I felt needed to be focused on.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words
But much like change in your own life actions are needed to show reflection in these photos. These human moments are important to show for giving this event a sense of purpose. The togetherness and community that it shows makes the event feel personable and productive.

These talkative and introspective moments can be balanced with quiet moments of meaningful thought. Drawing a scene of nature or writing out your thoughts as you sit in such a beautiful place is exactly what best portrays this event.

A Natural Conclusion
Not everything needs to be shown through the people attending however. Often nature itself can invoke these feelings. Useful for backgrounds and expressing the kinds of nature that you hope to see when attending, I think they are important to capture.

Whether its the green spaces that you get to walk through or seeing the view over the lake it shows the viewer how a calm and serene landscape can put them into a mood to reflect. Noticing everything around you will open up your mind to things that you might have missed had you not gone outside that day

What is there to Reflect on
I really appreciated the opportunity I got to capture this event of reflection and thought. Mental health and growth is something that I strive for in my own life and being able to use my creativity to express that for someone that also looks to better those around them was a great privilege.
